Adinkerke

Europe is one of the five inhabited traditional continents of the Earth. Physically and geologically, Europe is the westernmost peninsula of Eurasia, west of Asia. Europe is bounded to the north by the Arctic Ocean, to the west by the Atlantic Ocean, to the south by the Mediterranean Sea, and to the southeast by the waterways adjoining the Mediterranean to and including the Black Sea and the Caucasus Mountains. Europe is also admired for its natural beauty and marvelous surroundings.

Adinkerke is one of the popular tourist attractions in Europe that is blessed with unique and marvelous surroundings. Located in the North West part of Belgium, close to the French border, Adinkerke is a metropolis with the coastal town of De Panne which in turn is part of the west Belgian coastal conurbation. Adinkerke railway station is also the Western terminus of the Belgian coast tram line to De Panne, Nieuwpoort, and Ostend and beyond. The kerke suffix is common in west Flanders as an area surrounding a church.

The closest French town from Adinkerke is Dunkirk that can be accessed through the E40 A16 motorway or N386 D60 minor road in addition to a canal. During the Second World War, the British Expeditionary Force was involved in the later stages of the defense of Belgium following the German invasion in May 1940, and suffered many casualties in covering the withdrawal to Dunkirk.

Adinkerke military cemetery contains 168 commonwealth burials of the First World War, and 55 from the Second World War. There are also 142 Czech and German war graves. Many shops opened around the clock, which provided the advantage of presenting other shops and fuel services that would not usually be found in a town of such a small size.

Like some of its sister cities and towns, Adinkerke is blessed with beautiful surroundings and a unique natural setting. The picturesque scenery, the majesty of the mountains, the slow pace of life, and the welcoming nature of its people all combine to make this region one of the most important touristic attractions in Europe.
