Agios Dimitrios Ioannina

Europe is one of the five inhabited traditional continents of the Earth. Physically and geologically, Europe is the westernmost peninsula of Eurasia, west of Asia. Europe is bounded to the north by the Arctic Ocean, to the west by the Atlantic Ocean, to the south by the Mediterranean Sea, and to the southeast by the waterways adjoining the Mediterranean to and including the Black Sea and the Caucasus Mountains. On the east, Europe is divided from Asia by the water divide of the Ural Mountains and by the Caspian Sea. Europe is the world's second-smallest continent in terms of area and third-largest continent after Asia and Africa in population.

Agios Dimitrios is a municipality in the Ioannina Prefecture of Greece. It had a population of 6,502 residents as of 2001. The seat of the municipality is in theriakisi, a prefecture of Greece, part of the north-western periphery of Epirus. Its capital is the city of Ioannina. It is bordered by Albania in the north, Kastoria in the northeast, Grevena in the east, the prefecture of Trikala in the east, Arta in the southeast, Preveza in the south and the prefecture of Thesprotia in the southwest and west. It is the largest prefecture in Epirus, covering almost half of Epirus. Ioannina is also one of the largest prefectures of Greece by number of municipalities and communities. The mountains dominate the east, north, west and south. Fertile lands dominated the areas within Ioannina.

Greece officially the Hellenic Republic, is a country in south-eastern Europe, situated on the Balkan Peninsula. Greece lies at the juncture of Europe, Asia, and Africa. Greece is a developed country, member of the European Union since 1981 and a member of the Economic and Monetary Union of the European Union since 2001. The shores of Greece's Aegean Sea saw the emergence of the first advanced civilizations in Europe whose impact is inseparable from today's western institutions. Following the emergence of the Greek-speaking Byzantine Empire and 400 years of Ottoman control the Modern Greek state evolved after 1821-1830 as an independent Kingdom.
