Arvika

Europe is one of the five inhabited traditional continents of the Earth. Physically and geologically, Europe is the westernmost peninsula of Eurasia, which is to the west of Asia. Europe is bounded to the north by the Arctic Ocean, to the west by the Atlantic Ocean, to the south by the Mediterranean Sea, and to the southeast by the waterways adjoining the Mediterranean, including the Black Sea and the Caucasus Mountains. On the east, Europe is divided from Asia by the water divide of the Ural Mountains and by the Caspian Sea. Europe is the world's second smallest continent in terms of area and third largest continent after Asia and Africa in population.

Arvika is a municipality in Varmland County in western Sweden. It has circa 28,000 inhabitants, with 14,000 living in the town Arvika. Sweden is known for the annual Arvika festival which attracts international artists. The total area of Arvika is 1659.5 square kilometer with a population of 26,275.

About ten kilometers to the west of the city, in Bergs Klatt, there are remnants of a younger Stone Age and Nordic Bronze Age settlements in the form of graves. The town was a village until 1811. It was given town privileges by royal charter under the name Oscarsstad, in order to improve the economy of that area. The town of Arvika is situated at Kyrkviken, a bay of Glafsfjorden. The area is hilly with the tallest hill Storkasberget close to the town centre.

Several famous Swedish artists lived and worked there, the most well known probably being Christian Eriksson and Gustaf Fjaestad and his wife Maja Fjaestad. Other talents that lived in Rackstad include Bjorn Ahlgrensson and Fritz Lindstrom. Arvika has several heavy industrial production facilities which employ the majority of the population, among these Volvo Wheel Loaders and Arvika Gjuteri. One of Sweden’s six music schools, Ingesund College of Music, is situated in Arvika.

Arvika is a beautiful place. As it is often regarded as among the most beautiful parts of Europe, it is one of the most visited places amongst the most die hard travelers the world over.
