Ekero
Europe is one of the five inhabited traditional continents of the Earth. Physically and geologically, Europe is the westernmost peninsula of Eurasia, west of Asia. Europe is bounded to the north by the Arctic Ocean, to the west by the Atlantic Ocean, to the south by the Mediterranean Sea, and to the southeast by the waterways adjoining the Mediterranean to and including the Black Sea and the Caucasus Mountains. On the east, Europe is divided from Asia by the water divide of the Ural Mountains and by the Caspian Sea.
Ekero is an exclusive tourist destination located in Europe. It is a Swedish municipality in Stockholm County, in central Sweden. The name comes from the island Ekero, and literally means Oak Island. The municipality consists of 140 islands in Lake Malaren. The largest ones, distinguished on the map, are Adelso, Munso, Ekero, Faringso and Lovo.
Ekero has grown from a small village to one of the largest cities with over 24,264 inhabitants and population density of 109 inhabitants per square kilometer as of the 2005 census. The municipality contains two world heritage sites accredited by the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization. One is Birka, an old Viking village, and the other is Drottningholm.
Birka is situated to the west, on a small island south of Adelso, while Drottningholm is situated on the eastern island of Lovo. Other historical sights of interest are several ruin stones and other Viking remains, eight medieval churches, and old towns. There are also several outdoor activities that can be enjoyed, such as fishing and bicycling. Each of the islands also offers distinctive experiences and sights.
Like some of its sister cities and towns, Ekero is blessed with beautiful surroundings and a unique natural setting. The picturesque scenery, the majesty of the mountains, the slow pace of life, and the welcoming nature of its people all combine to make this region one of the most important touristic attractions in Europe.
