The total area is 43.42 square kilometers, which gives a population density of 264 inhabitants per kilometers. Hainaut is the westernmost province of Wallonia, one of the three regions of Belgium. It borders in Belgium on the provinces of West Flanders, East Flanders, Flemish Brabant and those of Walloon Brabant and Namur and on France.
