Gotene

Europe is one of the five inhabited traditional continents of the Earth. Physically and geologically, Europe is the westernmost peninsula of Eurasia, west of Asia. Europe is bounded to the north by the Arctic Ocean, to the west by the Atlantic Ocean, to the south by the Mediterranean Sea, and to the southeast by the waterways adjoining the Mediterranean to and including the Black Sea and the Caucasus Mountains. On the east, Europe is divided from Asia by the water divide of the Ural Mountains and by the Caspian Sea. Europe is the world's second-smallest continent in terms of area and third-largest continent after Asia and Africa in population.

Gotene municipality is a small Swedish municipality in Vastra Gotaland County, in western Sweden. Its seat is located in the largest town Gotene. According to the 2005 census, population was 12,950, area is 406 square kilometers, and density is 32 per square kilometers.

The two most notable sights in the municipality are the mountain and ridge Kinnekulle and the village Husaby, with an old church and church well, where the first Christian King of Sweden, Olof Skotkonung, is believed to have been baptized. Gotene has a sister city in Lithuania. It is called Pasvalys and has about 37,000 inhabitants, whereof 9,700 live in the urban area Pasvalys.

Gotene experiences a boom with day tourists, owing to the clear air, town character with rich culture, high quality of life and conspicuously original history. The picturesque scenery, the majesty of nature, the slow pace of life, and the welcoming nature of its people also combine to make this region one of the most important tourist attractions in Europe.
