Hammaro




Europe is one of the five inhabited traditional continents of the Earth. Physically and geologically, Europe is the westernmost peninsula of Eurasia, west of Asia. Europe is bounded to the north by the Arctic Ocean, to the west by the Atlantic Ocean, to the south by the Mediterranean Sea, and to the southeast by the waterways adjoining the Mediterranean to and including the Black Sea and the Caucasus Mountains. On the east, Europe is divided from Asia by the water divide of the Ural Mountains and by the Caspian Sea. Europe is the world's second-smallest continent in terms of area and third-largest continent after Asia and Africa in population.
 
Hammaro Municipality is a Swedish municipality in Värmland, in west central Sweden. The municipal seat is located in Skoghall, situated at 50 meters height, with over 12,000 of the municipal 14,000 inhabitants. With an area of 57 square kilometers it is one of Sweden's 20 smallest, as well as the smallest of the Varmland County. According to the 2005 census, population was 14,390 and area is 57 square kilometers.
 
The municipality consists of the island Hammaron and adjacent archipelago. The name Hammaro, or Hammarön, literally means Hammer Island, and has given the municipality its name. The island itself is 47 square kilometers large, the third largest island of lake Vanern, and located off the shore of Varmland, separated by the Klaralven river delta. From Skoghall it is 7 kilometers to the Swedish city Karlstad, which takes about 10 minutes. Hammaro in fact only borders to Karlstad Municipality.
 
A hundreds years ago, the largest employers were all in the fishing sectors. Today, the company Stora Enso Skoghall, manufacturing cardboard boxes, has 950 employees. Second is Akzo Nobel Base Chemicals with 150, manufacturing chemical products.
 
It can also be considered as the preeminent, historical and potential tourism destination that enjoys a very positive reputation with worldwide travelers to become one of the most visited places.
