Hengelo

Europe is one of the five inhabited traditional continents of the Earth. Physically and geologically, Europe is the westernmost peninsula of Eurasia, west of Asia. Europe is bounded to the north by the Arctic Ocean, to the west by the Atlantic Ocean, to the south by the Mediterranean Sea, and to the southeast by the waterways adjoining the Mediterranean to and including the Black Sea and the Caucasus Mountains. On the east, Europe is divided from Asia by the water divide of the Ural Mountains and by the Caspian Sea. Europe is the world's second-smallest continent in terms of area and third-largest continent after Asia and Africa in population.

Hengelo is a municipality and a town in the eastern Netherlands, in the province of Overijssel. The city lies along the highways A1/E8 and A35 and is a station for the IC Amsterdam-Hannover-Berlin. It has the total area of 61.78 square kilometers, land of 61.06 square kilometers and Water 0.72 square kilometers. As per 2005 it had the total population of 81,179 and density is of 1,329 square kilometers.

Although archeological research indicates the location is inhabited for thousands of years, the municipality was founded in 1802. At that time it merely consisted of a few hundred farms and landworkers houses.

Hengelo rapidly developed from a small village to a town in the late 19th century when it became a significant railway junction. This attracted heavy industry like Stork, Hazemeijer, Heemaf and Hoillandse Signaal Apparaten, now taken over by the French Thales. It is definitely one of the popular tourist attractions in Europe worth paying a visit while touring the country. This place leaves a pleasing and unforgettable memory and justifies the proud cultural tradition of Europe.
