The municipality is composed of 8 parishes, and is located in the district of Setubal. The present Mayor is Maria Amelia Macedo Antunes and the President of the Municipal Assembly is Antonio Isidro Paracana. The municipal holiday is June 29. It has density of 116 per square kilometers inhabitants.
