Makednos is a municipality in the Kastoria Prefecture, Greece. According to the 2001 census, population was 3,468. The seat of the municipality is in Mavrochori.
 
Kastoria is one of the fifty-one prefectures of Greece. Its capital is Kastoria city, and its population was estimated at 51,934 inhabitants in the most recent census. Kastoria prefecture is situated in the western end of Greek Macedonia in the far north of the country. It borders the prefectures of Florina, Grevena, Kozani and Ioannina. An international border with the Albanian district of Korce lies on the western edge of the prefecture.

It can also be considered as the preeminent, historical and potential tourism destination that enjoys a very positive reputation with worldwide travelers to become one of the most visited places.
