Europe is one of the five inhabited traditional continents of the Earth. Physically and geologically, Europe is in the westernmost peninsula of Eurasia, west of Asia. Europe is the worlds second smallest continent in terms of area and third largest continent after Asia and Africa in population.

Koukounaries meaning pine cones after the trees surrounding the beach is a site on the island Skiathos part of the Sporades, 16 kilometer to the southwest of Skiathos Town, Greece. Koukounaries was once known as Maratha and is well known for Koukounaries Beach, which is also known as Chrisi Ammos. It means golden sand since the sand there is extremely fine. The population of Koukounaries was 126 in the year 2001 and had 2.05 percent of municipality census.

The beach in Koukounaries is managed by the Municipality of Skiathos. The beach is fully equipped with relatively inexpensive beach bars, clean toilets, showers, water sport facilities, lifeguard towers and a marina.It is approximately 1.5 kilometer long, a good 15 minutes walk from one end to the other. Agios Nikitas has a church and a small square plateia. As it is often regarded as among the most beautiful parts of Europe, it is one of the most visited places amongst the most die hard travelers the world over.
