Roeselare
Europe is one of the five inhabited traditional continents of the Earth. Physically and geologically, Europe is the westernmost peninsula of Eurasia, west of Asia. Europe is bounded to the north by the Arctic Ocean, to the west by the Atlantic Ocean, to the south by the Mediterranean Sea, and to the southeast by the waterways adjoining the Mediterranean to and including the Black Sea and the Caucasus Mountains. Roeselare is a Belgian municipality in the Flemish province of West Flanders. The municipality comprises the city of Roeselare proper and the towns of Beveren, Oekene and Rumbeke. In 2006, the population of the city was 55,775 and an area of 59.79 square kilometers. The name of the city is derived from two old German words meaning reed and open space. The city received its charter of freedoms in the mid 13th century, period in which it also built its first city hall and belfry. The manufacturing of cloth was then the main driver of the local economy. Roeselare houses a whole family of giant puppets.
