Trosa Municipality is a wealthy Swedish municipality in Sodermanland County, in central Sweden. Its seat is located in the town Trosa with 4,200 inhabitants. The municipality borders to Nykoping Municipality, Gnesta Municipality and north to Sodertalje Municipality in Stockholm County. Sodermanland County, lan is a County or lan on the south east coast of Sweden. The Kingdom of Sweden is a Nordic country in Scandinavia. According to the 2001 census, population was 10,627, density is 50 per square kilometers, and area is 211 square kilometers. 
Trosa was known as a town in the 14th century. In the 15th century it was an important site for merchancy, and received its city privileges in 1454 by King Charles VIII of Sweden. Due to land elevation, the city center was moved in the early 17th century, to its present location by the estuary of the Trosa River. Within the municipality there are four churches, of those the church in Trosa rural parish is from the 13th century; Vasterljung's Church is also from the medieval age, and the Trosa church is one of few 18th century churches in the area.

Today, one can also learn about its history, from its earliest times and gain enthusiasm in its natural beauty and populace. Trosa enjoys a very positive reputation with worldwide travelers.
