Achinos

Greece, officially the Hellenic Republic is a country in south-eastern Europe, situated on the southern end of the Balkan Peninsula. It is bordered by Bulgaria, the Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia and Albania to the north and by Turkey to the east. The Aegean Sea lies to the east of mainland Greece while the Ionian Sea lies to the west. Both parts of the eastern Mediterranean basin feature a vast number of islands.
Achinos is a municipality in the Serres Prefecture of Greece. The seat of the municipality is in Sitochori. Achilleio blends a rich historic past and a vibrant present. It is well known for its historic myths and traditions, scenic beauty, cooperative people and luxurious hotels and cottages. The town centre has buildings in a wide range of styles that include neoclassical, modernist, noucentrist and simply eclectic.

Owing to these facilities in Achinos, the population has grown up to 3,800 inhabitants per square kilometer as of the 2001 census. This is true not only because of its above-average cultural range, its many high-class museums or antiquities but also because of the various cultural activities. Besides culture, Achinos also offers many other possibilities for amusing oneself at sports, walking through the old town or a stroll to the shops in the inner city.
