Afidnes

Europe is one of the five inhabited traditional continents of the Earth. Physically and geologically, Europe is the westernmost peninsula of Eurasia, west of Asia. Europe is bounded to the north by the Arctic Ocean, to the west by the Atlantic Ocean, to the south by the Mediterranean Sea, and to the southeast by the waterways adjoining the Mediterranean to and including the Black Sea and the Caucasus Mountains. Europe is also admired for its natural beauty, marvelous surroundings and cities.

Afidnes is one such popular tourist attraction in Europe that is blessed with unique and marvelous surroundings. Also known as Aphidnae in Latin, Afidnes is a suburb in Attica Prefecture of Greece just about 28 kilometers to the north of Athens. From the medieval times to the late 20th century, the village was known as Kiourka.

Historically, Afidnes is the most significant archaeological city. The area in the 19th century was later excavated. The area features about 13 Middle Helladic tumulus. Until the 1990s, farmlands covered the area around Afidnes but housing developments did not reach Afidna. Forests cover part of the community. Businesses and factories are within the superhighway including the tire company.

Like some of its sister cities and towns in the Attica Prefecture, Afidnes is blessed with beautiful surroundings and a unique natural setting. The picturesque scenery, the majesty of the mountains, the slow pace of life, and the welcoming nature of its people all combine to make this region one of the most important touristic attractions in Europe.
