Agios Georgios is a municipality in the Corfu Prefecture, Greece. It had a population of 4,958 residents in 2001. The seat of the municipality is in Agros. Corfu had a population of 113,658 residents in 2005 with a population density of 180 residents per square kilometer. Corfu, a prefecture of Greece, consists of the islands of Corfu, Paxoi, Othonoi and several smaller islands, all in the Ionian Sea. The prefecture is part of the periphery Ionian Islands. The capital of the prefecture is Corfu Town.

The prefects were previously appointed by the government.The Aegean Sea lies to the east of mainland Greece while the Ionian Sea lies to the west. Greece has a particularly long and eventful history and a cultural heritage considerably influential in Europe, Northern Africa and the Middle East.
