Agueda is a city in Portugal with a total area of 335.3 square kilometers and a total population of 49,456 inhabitants. Portugal is bordered by Spain to the north and east and by the Atlantic Ocean to the west and south. The Atlantic archipelagos of the Azores and Madeira are also part of Portugal.
 
The municipality is composed of 20 parishes and is located in the District of Aveiro. The District of Aveiro is located in the central coastal of Portugal; the District Capital is the city of Aveiro. It was founded on April 19, 1973 in the German city of Bad Munstereifel, by militants of the Portuguese Socialist Action.
