Arachthos is a municipality in the prefecture of Arta, Greece. It is situated along the lower course of the Arachthos River, south of Arta. Its population is 6,011 was estimated in 2001. The seat of the municipality is in Neochori. Arta is one of the prefectures of Greece. It is part of the Epirus periphery. Its capital is the city of Arta. It is located north of the Ambracian Gulf. Mountains surround the northeast with only one road linking into the Pineios valley and Thessaly, and low-land agricultural plains to its west. It is bounded by the prefectures of Preveza in the west, Ioannina to the north, Trikala in the east, Karditsa to the east and Aetolia-Acarnania to the south.
