Heist-aan-Zee, or Heist, is a town in Knokke-Heist, a part of Belgium. Knokke-Heist is a municipality located in the Belgian province of West Flanders. The municipality comprises the towns of Heist-aan-Zee, Knokke, Duinbergen, Ramskapelle and Westkapelle. On January 1, 2006 Knokke-Heist had a total population of 34,063. The total area is 56.44 square kilometers which gives a population density of 603 inhabitants per square kilometers.
 
Heist-aan-Zee can also be considered as the preeminent, historical and potential tourism destination that enjoys a very positive reputation with worldwide travelers to become one of the most visited places.
