Hilversum is a municipality and a town in the Netherlands, in the province of North Holland. It is Located in the region called Gooi, it is the largest town in that area. It is surrounded by heathland, woods, meadows, lakes, and smaller villages. It has total area of 46.19 square kilometers and land of 45.98 square kilometers and water of 0.21 square kilometers. It had total population in the year of 2006 is 83,618 and density is 1,807 per square kilometers.
 
Hilversum is also known for its architecturally important Raadhuis or town hall, designed by Willem Dudok 1884 to 1974. Hilversum has one library two swimming pools, a number of sporting halls and several shopping centres. In the region the city centre is known as het dorp which means the village. Hilversum is connected to the Dutch railway network, and contains three stations include Hilversum, Hilversum Noord, and Hilversum Sportpark.
