Elos

Europe is one of the five inhabited traditional continents of the Earth. Physically and geologically, Europe is the westernmost peninsula of Eurasia, west of Asia. Europe is bounded to the north by the Arctic Ocean, to the west by the Atlantic Ocean, to the south by the Mediterranean Sea, and to the southeast by the waterways adjoining the Mediterranean to and including the Black Sea and the Caucasus Mountains. On the east, Europe is divided from Asia by the water divide of the Ural Mountains and by the Caspian Sea. Europe is the world's second-smallest continent in terms of area and third-largest continent after Asia and Africa in population.

Elos is a place with plenty of attractions in Europe. It is a village and a municipality in Greece near Skala and Vlachioti. It was called Durali until 1912. The population of the village is about 800 people as of 2005. The municipality has 6,452 inhabitants, and has its seat in Vlachioti. The inhabitants work as farmers producing oranges and olive oil. The beaches are nearby facing south to the Laconian Gulf. The Evrotas River is west of Elos. The name dates back to ancient times. It is also located West of Monemvasia, East of Gytheio and Southeast of Sparta.

The flash floods of November 24 and 25 of 2005 caused damages to properties and flooded local streets and stranded automobiles. The area flooded 170 square kilometers of land and ruined some famous orange groves and other crops. Some damages were also major.

Presently, Elos experiences a sharp social, economic and population growth derivative of the strategic position of the locality and the high level of well-being and quality of life that is enjoyed with respect to other places of Europe. This fact has consolidated along with other adjacent municipalities, as a great alternative for residence.
