Faiakes is a municipality in the Corfu region, Greece. In 2001, the population of the city was 6,488. The seat of the municipality is in Ypsos. Corfu is a region of Greece. It consists of the islands of Corfu, Paxoi, Othonoi and several smaller islands, all in the Ionian Sea. The prefecture is part of the periphery Ionian Islands. The capital of the prefecture is Corfu Town.
 
Greece, officially the Hellenic Republic, is a country in south-eastern Europe, situated on the southern end of the Balkan Peninsula. It is bordered by Bulgaria, the Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia and Albania to the north and by Turkey to the east. The Aegean Sea lies to the east of mainland Greece while the Ionian Sea lies to the west. Both parts of the eastern Mediterranean basin feature a vast number of islands.
