Korestia is a municipality in the Kastoria prefecture in Greece. The population was 1,000 in the year 2001. The seat of the municipality is in Makrochori. Kastoria is one of the fifty one prefectures of Greece. Its capital is Kastoria city and its population was estimated at 51,934 inhabitants in the most recent census. Kastoria prefecture is situated in the western end of Greek Macedonia in the far north of the country. The population was 53,584 in the year 2005. The area is 1,720 square kilometer. The mountain ranges includes Grammos and Voio to the southwest and Verno to the northeast.

Korestia is surrounded with islands. It is a small place yet it is very beautiful. As it is often regarded as among the most beautiful parts of Europe, it is one of the most visited places amongst the most die hard travelers the world over.
