Mjolby municipality is a Swedish municipality in southeast Sweden, within the province Ostergotland. Its seat is in the town of Mjolby, with 12,000 inhabitants. It has total area of area 549 square kilometers with population of 25,326 and density is 46 per square kilometers inhabitants.
 
Mjolby is located by the rivulet Svartan. The name Mjolby is derived from Molloby, which comes from mylna or molna meaning mill. Due to the rapids of Svartan and the fertile soils of the surrounding plains, Mjolby is a natural place for a mill. Mjolby has a school for goldsmith and a school for engine drivers.
