Nea Ionia, Magnesia

Nea Ionia is a city in Thessaly, Greece. It is part of the Magnesia prefecture, and a municipality bordering the city of Volos. The name New Ionia refers to refugees from western Anatolia that settled in the area after the Greco-Turkish War 1919 to 1922. Thessaly is one of the 13 peripheries of Greece, and is further sub-divided into 4 prefectures. The capital of the periphery is Larissa. The prefecture lies in central Greece and borders Macedonia on the north, Epirus on the west, Sterea Hellas or Central Greece on the south and the Aegean Sea on the east.
Nea Ionia is also known as the town of best geographical environment and has traced its origins back to prehistoric times. Today, one can also learn about its history, from its earliest times and can also enjoy its natural beauty concealed by the beautiful landscapes.
