Europe is one of the five inhabited traditional continents of the Earth. Physically and geologically, Europe is the westernmost peninsula of Eurasia, west of Asia. Europe is the world's second-smallest continent in terms of area and third-largest continent after Asia and Africa in population.
 
Lavara is a town located in the eastern part of the prefecture of Evros. It is the seat of the municipality of Orfeas. It is located only nearly 2 kilometers from Turkey and the western banks of the Evros. The nearest Turkish settlement is Alibey. The Evros Prefecture is the northernmost of the prefectures of Greece. It is located in the eastern and the northeastern part of the Greek part of Thrace, and borders Turkey at the Evros river. Evros borders Bulgaria to the north and the northwest. The Rhodope prefecture borders it to the west. Its capital town is Alexandroupoli. Evros is one of the largest prefectures of Greece and is the largest in Thrace covering over 45 percent, almost half of Western Thrace, one of the two regions of Northern Greece. Orfeas, named after the mythical musician Orpheus, is one of the largest municipalities and the least populated municipality in the prefecture of Evros, Greece. The seat of the municipality is in Lavara. Much of the land is mountainous and forested to the west hovers the central and the western part of the prefecture extending up to the Rhodope prefecture.
