Nigrita

Europe is one of the five inhabited traditional continents of the Earth. Physically and geologically, Europe is the westernmost peninsula of Eurasia, west of Asia. Europe is bounded to the north by the Arctic Ocean, to the west by the Atlantic Ocean, to the south by the Mediterranean Sea, and to the southeast by the waterways adjoining the Mediterranean to and including the Black Sea and the Caucasus Mountains. On the east, Europe is divided from Asia by the water divide of the Ural Mountains and by the Caspian Sea. Europe is the world's second-smallest continent in terms of area and third-largest continent after Asia and Africa in population.

Nigrita is a city and a municipality situated between the Strymonian plain of the Strymon River and the Vertiskos Mountains featuring the mountaintop Trani Rachi to the southwest. Nigrita is the capital of the Visaltia province and is located in the southwestern part of the Serres region. In 2001, the population of the city was 9,783.

Nigrita is also the second biggest community in the prefecture. The Thessaloniki region is found to the southwest. All of the communities and much of the population live on the plains. The economy was developed in the 18th and the early 19th centuries, with also an increase to the population. The main agricultural products were cereals, wine, cigars, cotton, sesame and aniseed. The main industries were silk and animal trade which made the economy of the area flourish during that period.

Nigrita is the kind of town you daydream about. It is an attractive city with natural beauty and historical places, while traveling in Europe.
