Nordanstig is a municipality in Gavleborg County, in east central Sweden. The municipality covers an area of 1378.8 square kilometers with a population of 10282. The municipal seat is located in Bergsjo. The name Nordanstig can be traced from 1358 and became the name of a parish. The current municipality was created in 1974 by joining four smaller municipalities. Gavleborg is a county on the Baltic Sea coast of Sweden. It borders to the counties of Uppsala, Vastmanland, Dalarna, Jamtland and Vasternorrland.
