Polichnitos

Europe is one of the five inhabited traditional continents of the Earth. Physically and geologically, Europe is the westernmost peninsula of Eurasia, west of Asia. Europe is bounded to the north by the Arctic Ocean, to the west by the Atlantic Ocean, to the south by the Mediterranean Sea, and to the southeast by the waterways adjoining the Mediterranean to and including the Black Sea and the Caucasus Mountains. On the east, Europe is divided from Asia by the water divide of the Ural Mountains and by the Caspian Sea. Europe is the world's second-smallest continent in terms of area and third-largest continent after Asia and Africa in population.

Polichnitos is a municipality on the island of Lesbos, in the Lesbos Prefecture, Greece. According to the 2001 census, population was 5,288. It is one of the most outstanding places in Lesvos and is a must for everyone who wants to see the traditional architecture of the island. Polichnitos used to be the second biggest town in Lesvos with about ten thousands residents. There is a wonderful beach at Kalloni's gulf with its crystal and clean waters. If you ever go to Nifida you should definitely taste the seafood appetizers at the quaint taverns alongside the shore as well as the famous ouzo of Lesvos. Unfortunately, not many holiday makers know this little paradise near Polichnitos.

Lesbos is one of the Prefectures of Greece. It is part of the archipelagic Periphery of the North Aegean. It borders the prefectures of Evros in the north and Chios in the south. East lies Turkey's west coast, while west lies the central Aegean Sea. It consists of three main islands are Lesbos itself, Limnos, and the smaller island of Agios Efstratios.

Polichnitos experiences a boom with day tourists, owing to the clear air, town character with rich culture, high quality of life and conspicuously original history. The picturesque scenery, the majesty of nature, the slow pace of life, and the welcoming nature of its people also combine to make this region one of the most important tourist attractions in Europe.
