Europe is one of the five inhabited traditional continents of the Earth. Physically and geologically, Europe is the westernmost peninsula of Eurasia, west of Asia. Sankt Polten is the capital city of the Austrian State of Lower Austria. In 2001, the population of the city was 49,121 and an area of 108.52 square kilometers. It is lower Austria's largest city. Sankt Polten is a city with its own statute and therefore it is both a municipality and a district in the Mostviertel. Several media companies are based in Sankt Polten. The city lies on the Traisen River and is located north of the Alps and south of the Wachau.
