Tavira

Europe is one of the five inhabited traditional continents of the Earth. Physically and geologically, Europe is the westernmost peninsula of Eurasia, west of Asia. Europe is bounded to the north by the Arctic Ocean, to the west by the Atlantic Ocean, to the south by the Mediterranean Sea, and to the southeast by the waterways adjoining the Mediterranean to and including the Black Sea and the Caucasus Mountains. On the east, Europe is divided from Asia by the water divide of the Ural Mountains and by the Caspian Sea. Europe is the world's second-smallest continent in terms of area and third-largest continent after Asia and Africa in population.

Tavira along with Lagos is considered to be the most architecturally attractive towns in the Algarve. Its known origin dates back to the late Bronze Age. In 8th century BC, Before Christ it became one of the first Phoenician settlements in the Iberian West. The Phoenicians created a colonial urban center here with massive walls, at least two temples, two harbours and a regular urban structure. Phoenician Tavira existed until the end of 6th Century BC, when it was destroyed by conflict.

Tavira is also said to be as the town of best geographical environment and can trace its origins back to prehistoric times. This is evident from the archaeological sites found throughout the Tavira town. Today, one can also learn about its history, from its earliest times and pursue enthusiasm in its natural beauty and populace.
