Trollhattan

Europe is one of the five inhabited traditional continents of the Earth. Physically and geologically, Europe is the westernmost peninsula of Eurasia, west of Asia. Europe is bounded to the north by the Arctic Ocean, to the west by the Atlantic Ocean, to the south by the Mediterranean Sea, and to the southeast by the waterways adjoining the Mediterranean to and including the Black Sea and the Caucasus Mountains. On the east, Europe is divided from Asia by the water divide of the Ural Mountains and by the Caspian Sea. Europe is the world's second-smallest continent in terms of area and third-largest continent after Asia and Africa in population.

Trollhattan Municipality is a Municipality in western Sweden where the City Trollhattan is the seat with a population of 44,000 inhabitants. The Kingdom of Sweden is a Nordic country in Scandinavia. The country has large natural resources of water, timber, and iron ore. Its citizens enjoy a high standard of living in a country that is generally perceived as modern and liberal. Area is 412 square kilometers, and density is 129 per square kilometers.

Trollhattan was founded by the river Gota alv, at a location with several waterfalls. The site was first mentioned in literature from 1413. For centuries, Trollhattan was an obstacle for the boats travelling the river, up until a lock system was completed in the nineteenth century. It has since been updated several times and the present locks were finished in 1916. In the late nineteenth century, hydropower was developed in Trollhattan. The Swedish energy corporation Vattenfall took its name from the falls in Trollhattan. Today the city has two operational hydropower stations, Olidan and Hajum. The hydropower has helped the city in its industrial revolution. The name Trollhattan comes from folkloristic tales. People believed that large trolls lived in the river Gota alv and that the islands in the river were the Trolls hoods.

Today, one can also learn about its history, from its earliest times and gain enthusiasm in its natural beauty and populace. Trollhattan enjoys a very positive reputation with worldwide travelers.
