Vadstena Municipality is a Swedish municipality in southeast Sweden. It is located in the province of Ostergotland by Vättern, Sweden's second largest lake. Its seat is in Vadstena, with 5,600 inhabitants. According to the 2005 census, population was 7,562, area is 182.5 square kilometers, and density 21 per square kilometers.
 
Vadstena, in 1350, that Saint Bridget of Sweden founded the first monastery of her Bridgettine Order and the Vadstena Castle is one of Sweden’s best-preserved castles from the era of Gustav Vasa in the 16th century.
