Valdemarsvik Municipality is a Municipality in Ostergotland County, in southeast Sweden. Its seat is in Valdemarsvik with 3,000 inhabitants. According to the 2005 census, population was 8,159, area  is 739 square kilometers, and density is 11 per square kilometers.
 
Historically Valdemarsvik was mentioned the first time in 1664 as a small town belonging to the city of Soderkoping. It formed an independent municipality with the first day of 1914. Notable natives is Lena Ek, member of the European Parliament and Football player Nils Liedholm was born, and grew up in Valdemarsvik.

Like some of its sister municipalities and towns, Valdemarsvik is blessed with beautiful surroundings and a unique natural setting. The picturesque scenery, the majesty of nature, the slow pace of life, and the welcoming nature of its people all combine to make this region one of the most important tourist attractions in Europe.
