Vaxholm is a municipality within Stockholm archipelago in central Sweden. The municipal slogan is Vaxholm the capital of the archipelago, due to its central locatation in the archipelago. 64 islets belong to the Vaxholm municipality and is also a part of the Bogesundslandet mainland. Its area is 58 square kilometers. The municipality has a significant amount of tourism. Ships transporting passengers between the islands began running on a daily basis in the 1850's. Today, many of islands can also be reached by bridges from the mainland. Not until 1912 was it allowed to build houses from other matierals than wood, giving a distinctive character.

Today, one can also learn about its history, from its earliest times and gain enthusiasm in its natural beauty and populace. Vaxholm enjoys a very positive reputation with worldwide travelers. As it is often regarded as among the most beautiful parts of Europe, it is one of the most visited places amongst the most die-hard travelers the world over.
