Europe is one of the five inhabited traditional continents of the Earth. Physically and geologically, Europe is the westernmost peninsula of Eurasia, west of Asia. Europe is bounded to the north by the Arctic Ocean, to the west by the Atlantic Ocean, to the south by the Mediterranean Sea, and to the southeast by the waterways adjoining the Mediterranean to and including the Black Sea and the Caucasus Mountains. On the east, Europe is divided from Asia by the water divide of the Ural Mountains and by the Caspian Sea. Europe is the world's second-smallest continent in terms of area and third-largest continent after Asia and Africa in population.

Anogeia is a municipality in the Rethymno Prefecture, Crete, Greece. Its total population recorded in 2001 was 4,812. Rethymno is a prefecture in the island of Crete. Its capital is the city of Rethymno. Today its main income is tourism. The countryside of the prefecture is also based economically on agriculture and herding. The village of Anogia is reported to have the highest fertility rate of the EU. Three other notable towns in the Rethymno prefecture are Plakias, Spili and Agia Galini.
Crete is the largest of the Greek islands and the fifth largest in the Mediterranean Sea. Greece, officially the Hellenic Republic, is a country in south-eastern Europe, situated on the southern end of the Balkan Peninsula it is bordered by Bulgaria, the Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia and Albania to the north and by Turkey to the east. The Aegean Sea lies to the east of mainland Greece while the Ionian Sea lies to the west.

Anogeia experiences a boom with day tourists, owing to the clear air, town character with rich culture, high quality of life and conspicuously original history. The picturesque scenery, the majesty of nature, the slow pace of life, and the welcoming nature of its people also combine to make this region one of the most important tourist attractions in Europe.
