Dorotea
Europe is one of the five inhabited traditional continents of the Earth. Physically and geologically, Europe is the westernmost peninsula of Eurasia, west of Asia. Europe is bounded to the north by the Arctic Ocean, to the west by the Atlantic Ocean, to the south by the Mediterranean Sea, and to the southeast by the waterways adjoining the Mediterranean to and including the Black Sea and the Caucasus Mountains. On the east, Europe is divided from Asia by the water divide of the Ural Mountains and by the Caspian Sea. Europe is the world's second-smallest continent in terms of area and third-largest continent after Asia and Africa in population.
Dorotea Municipality is a Swedish municipality in Västerbotten County, in northern Sweden, where the town Dorotea is seated with 1,600 inhabitants at an altitude of 386 meters. Dorotea is the southern outpost of the Scandinavian mountain range. Dorotea is one of the least populated municipalities in Sweden. It also offers one of the lowest costs of living. Area is 2,795 square kilometers, population rank in 2005 was 3,156 and density is 1.1 per square kilometers.
Dorotea has been populated since 1713, when the first settler moved to a town later known as Bergvatten. This village expanded to 41 houses by the end of the century, and the residents where anxious to build a chapel. The seat was chosen to be Bergvatten. On May 21, 1799 the village of Bergvattnet was renamed Dorotea, in honour of Queen Frederica Dorothea Wilhelmina of Sweden. The church unfortunately burnt down in 1932. A new church was inaugurated in 1934. Designed by Evert Milles, it houses some notable objects, such as a sculpture by his brother the famous Carl Milles.
Amongst the Dorotea industries is one of the biggest caravan manufacturer in Skandinavia, Polarvagnen, now known as Solifer-Polar as the two companies merged. Other known industries and companies are Dorocell, Svenska Talt and S-Karosser.
It can also be considered as the preeminent, historical and potential tourism destination that enjoys a very positive reputation with worldwide travelers to become one of the most visited places.
