Esneux

Europe is one of the five inhabited traditional continents of the Earth. Physically and geologically, Europe is the westernmost peninsula of Eurasia, which is to the west of Asia. Europe is bounded to the north by the Arctic Ocean, to the west by the Atlantic Ocean, to the south by the Mediterranean Sea, and to the southeast by the waterways adjoining the Mediterranean, including the Black Sea and the Caucasus Mountains. On the east, Europe is divided from Asia by the water divide of the Ural Mountains and by the Caspian Sea. Europe is the world's second smallest continent in terms of area and third largest continent after Asia and Africa in population.

Esneux is a municipality located in the Belgian province of Liege. On January 1, 2006 Esneux had a total population of 13,072. The total area is 34.05 square kilometer and the population density is 384 inhabitants per square kilometer. Esneux is constituted of a series of villages named as Esneux, Mery, Hony and Tilff. They are all to found in the valley of the Ourthe river to the south of Liege. A railway line links the 4 villages. Esneux and Tilff seem to interest tourists, mainly for the local restaurants, the Esneux and Tilff castle, the bee museum and several parks. Most of these only have a local interest.

Tilff has a traffic problem because of the highway exit links. It leaves a lot of traffic coming from both the south and the west. The local socialist party wanted to solve this problem by a new stretch of road and a new bridge over the Ourthe river. Many inhabitants however feared that the project was of large scale and that the local atmosphere might change. The village had fierce defenders of the new bridge and had an equally determined action committee against the plans. The last group wanted the present bridge over the Ourthe river to be replaced, but without any new large scale infrastructure. These controversies might have led to a change of coalition after the 2006 munipal elections. The socialist party lost some votes, the christian democrats gained some and the liberals where stable.

As Esneux, is often regarded as among the most beautiful parts of Europe, it is one of the most visited places amongst the most die hard travelers the world over.
