Hogsby municipality is a municipality in Kalmar County, in south-eastern Sweden. It has total area of 754 square kilometers and population 6,244 in 2005 and density 8 per square kilometers. Hogsby has a history tracing back to the medieval age, around 1200 BC, Before Christ. In the 15th and 16th century it was involved in conquests by the Danish soldiers, and Swedish King Gustav Vasa in his quest to find revolutionary Nils Dacke hideout and supporters in the Smalandian forests demolished the town.
