Komotini

Europe is one of the five inhabited traditional continents of the Earth. Physically and geologically, Europe is the westernmost peninsula of Eurasia, which is to the west of Asia. Europe is bounded to the north by the Arctic Ocean, to the west by the Atlantic Ocean, to the south by the Mediterranean Sea and to the southeast by the waterways adjoining the Mediterranean, including the Black Sea and the Caucasus Mountains. On the east, Europe is divided from Asia by the water divide of the Ural Mountains and by the Caspian Sea. Europe is the world's second smallest continent in terms of area and third largest continent after Asia and Africa in population.

Komotini or Komotene is a city in north eastern Greece. The history of this busy Greek city reflects its position as a commercial centre at the cross roads of civilizations. It is the capital of the periphery of eastern Macedonia and Thrace and the Rhodope prefecture. It is also the centre of the administration of Rhodope Evros super prefecture. The city is flat, built on the Thracian plain and next to the feet of the Rhodope Mountains at an altitude of 32 to 38 meters. According to the 2001 census, the city's population was 65,000.

The revamped central square or Plateia Irinis is the focus of a vibrant nightlife boosted by the huge number of students living in the city. In addition, in the northwestern outskirts of the city, locals and tourists alike flock into a modern shopping mall known as Kosmopolis Park, which houses departmental stores, shops, supermarkets, a cinema complex, cafes and restaurants. To the southwest of the central square one can find the open air municipal theatre, which hosts many cultural shows and events such as the cultural summer. There is a regional theatre whose company produces many plays all the year round. Komotini has several museums including the archaeological, byzantine and folklore museums.

Komotini is a beautiful place. It has many recreational facilities. It has one of the biggest and better industrial areas with good rail and bus links. As it is often regarded as among the most beautiful parts of Europe, it is one of the most visited places amongst the most die hard travelers the world over.
