Kortemark is a municipality located in the Belgian province of West Flanders. The municipality comprises the towns of Handzame, Kortemark Werken and Zarren. On January 1, 2006 Kortemark had a total population of 11,976. The total area is 55.00 square kilometer which gives a population density of 218 inhabitants per square kilometer.

Its capital is Bruges. It has an area of 3,125 square kilometer which is divided into eight administrative districts arrondissementen containing 64 municipalities. As Kortemark is often regarded as among the most beautiful parts of Europe, it is one of the most visited places amongst the most die hard travelers the world over.
