Kumanovo

Europe is one of the five inhabited traditional continents of the Earth. Physically and geologically, Europe is the westernmost peninsula of Eurasia, west of Asia. Europe is bounded to the north by the Arctic Ocean, to the west by the Atlantic Ocean, to the south by the Mediterranean Sea, and to the southeast by the waterways adjoining the Mediterranean to and including the Black Sea and the Caucasus Mountains. On the east, Europe is divided from Asia by the water divide of the Ural Mountains and by the Caspian Sea. Europe is the world's second-smallest continent in terms of area and third-largest continent after Asia and Africa in population.

Kumanovo is one of Europe most popular destinations, and is well known for the quantity of cultural related attractions and monuments that the city has embraced. Kumanovo is the second largest municipality city in the Republic of Macedonia after the capital Skopje and third largest town in the country. It is situated in the northeastern part of the Macedonia, near the capital city of Skopje. The municipal institutions include a city council, mayor and other administrative bodies. Skopje airport greatly helps Kumanovo's tourism.

The total area of the municipality is 25,333 square kilometers, Its population as of 2005 was estimated to 2,034,000. Its density is 79 per square kilometers. The lands governed by the Republic of Macedonia were previously the southernmost part of the Socialist Federated Republic of Yugoslavia. Its current borders were fixed shortly after World War II when the government of the then People's Federal Republic of Yugoslavia established the People's Republic of Macedonia, recognizing the Macedonian ethnicity, and the region as a separate nation within Yugoslavia.

Kumanovo became an urban settlement and administrative center of the region at the end of the 16th century or the beginning of the 17th century. Following the turbulent events the city experienced a period of stagnation, and by the end of 18th century Kumanovo epitomized an Ottoman provincial town.

Kumanovo, justifiably so, enjoys a very positive reputation with worldwide travelers, and is one of the most visited place. It is also said the place of best geographical environment and can trace its origin back to prehistoric times.
