Leianokladi

Europe is one of the five inhabited traditional continents of the Earth. Physically and geologically, Europe is the westernmost peninsula of Eurasia, west of Asia. Europe is bounded to the north by the Arctic Ocean, to the west by the Atlantic Ocean, to the south by the Mediterranean Sea, and to the southeast by the waterways adjoining the Mediterranean to and including the Black Sea and the Caucasus Mountains. On the east, Europe is divided from Asia by the water divide of the Ural Mountains and by the Caspian Sea. Europe is the world's second-smallest continent in terms of area and third-largest continent after Asia and Africa in population.

Leianokladi is a municipality in Phthiotis, Greece. It had a population of 3,034 inhabitants in 2001. Phthiotis is one of the prefectures of Greece. The capital is the city of Lamia. It is bordered by the Maliac Gulf to the east, Boeotia in the south, Phocis in the south, Aetolia-Acarnania in the southwest, Eurytania in the west, Karditsa in the north, Larissa in the north, and Magnesia in the northeast. The name dates back to ancient times. The modern prefecture was created during the Greek War of Independence of 1821 and was known as Phthiotis and Phocis until 1947 when the old southern part became the modern Phocis prefecture and the name changed to the modern-day Phthiotis.

Greece lies at the juncture of Europe, Asia, and Africa. Regarded as the cradle of western civilization and being the birthplace of democracy, Western philosophy, the Olympic Games, western literature, political science, major scientific principles, and drama including both tragedy and comedy, Greece has a particularly long and eventful history and a cultural heritage considerably influential in Europe, Northern Africa and the Middle East. Following the emergence of the Greek-speaking Byzantine Empire and 400 years of Ottoman control the Modern Greek state evolved after 1821-1830 as an independent Kingdom. Today, Greece is a developed country, member of the European Union since 1981 and a member of the Economic and Monetary Union of the European Union since 2001.
