Coimbra

Europe is one of the five inhabited traditional continents of the Earth. Physically and geologically, Europe is the westernmost peninsula of Eurasia, west of Asia. Europe is bounded to the north by the Arctic Ocean, to the west by the Atlantic Ocean, to the south by the Mediterranean Sea, and to the southeast by the waterways adjoining the Mediterranean to and including the Black Sea and the Caucasus Mountains. On the east, Europe is divided from Asia by the water divide of the Ural Mountains and by the Caspian Sea. Europe is the world's second-smallest continent in terms of area and third-largest continent after Asia and Africa in population.

Coimbra is a town and a municipality in Portugal. The city has a population of 142,408 inhabitants and over 435,000 inhabitants live in the Greater Metropolitan Area of Coimbra made of 16 municipalities comprising a 3370 square kilometers area. Coimbra is one of the most significant urban centers of Portugal after the much larger Lisbon Metropolitan Area and Porto Metropolitan Area conurbations and plays a role as the chief city of the central part of the country.

Coimbra developed into an important cultural centre, mainly because of the University of Coimbra founded in 1290. With a dense urban grid the city of Coimbra is well-known for its monuments, churches, libraries, numerous parks, gardens, nightlife, healthcare and shopping facilities, but above all for its University of Coimbra, one of the oldest universities in Europe.

Coimbra is the kind of town you daydream about. It is a city with endless recreational opportunities, rich history, and modern day luxuries.
