Petalidi
Europe is one of the five inhabited traditional continents of the Earth. Physically and geologically, Europe is in the westernmost peninsula of Eurasia, west of Asia. Europe is bounded to the north by the Arctic Ocean, to the west by the Atlantic Ocean, to the south by the Mediterranean Sea, and to the southeast by the waterways adjoining the Mediterranean to and including the Black Sea and the Caucasus Mountains. On the east, Europe is divided from Asia by the water divide of the Ural Mountains and by the Caspian Sea. Europe is the worlds second smallest continent in terms of area and third largest continent after Asia and Africa in population.
Petalidi is a village and the seat of the municipality of the same name in the southcentral part of the prefecture of Messenia. Petalidi is situated in the western part of the Messenian Gulf. It is located on a road connecting Messini and Kalamata and Koroni and south of GR-82. Petalidi has a population of 3,601 in the year 2001 with an elevation of 21 meters above the sea level.
Petalidi has a school, a church, a post office, beaches, banks, a port and a square .Petalidi also has hotels including Sunrise Village which dominate the coast and one located 2 kilometer from Petalidi. The length of the town is about 1 kilometer and residential houses nad buildings are mainly within the beach. The centre is located near the gulf. The landscape of Petalidi includes rocky mountains with a few bushes covering much of Petalidi and farmlands are around Petalidi. It also has some forests near the centre which include mostly pine trees.The small bay located north of Petalidi is named Petalidi Bay. Petalidi also has a monastery located which is not very far from the centre.
