Petra is a municipality in Pieria, Greece. It had a population of 6,246 in the year 2001. The seat of the municipality is in Milia. Pieria is one of the prefectures of Greece. Its capital is the town of Katerini. The name Pieria originates from the ancient tribe and the ancient country of Pieris. Greece officially the Hellenic Republic is a country in south Eastern Europe, situated on the southern end of the Balkan Peninsula. Greece lies at the juncture of Europe, Asia, and Africa.
