Resen is a municipality in Republic of Macedonia. It has about 18,000 inhabitants. Resen rises 880 meters above sea level. It is very close to Lake Prespa and the only city in Prespa Region. During the Middle Ages, Prespa was a capital of the Second Bulgarian Empire under Tsar Samuil for a brief time. Republic of Macedoniais a landlocked country on the Balkan Peninsula in southeastern Europe.
