Stenungsund

Europe is one of the five inhabited traditional continents of the Earth. Physically and geologically, Europe is the westernmost peninsula of Eurasia, west of Asia. Europe is bounded to the north by the Arctic Ocean, to the west by the Atlantic Ocean, to the south by the Mediterranean Sea, and to the southeast by the waterways adjoining the Mediterranean to and including the Black Sea and the Caucasus Mountains. On the east, Europe is divided from Asia by the water divide of the Ural Mountains and by the Caspian Sea. Europe is the world's second-smallest continent in terms of area and third-largest continent after Asia and Africa in population.

Stenungsund municipality is a municipality in Bohus County in western Sweden, administratively belonging to Västra Gotaland County. Its seat is in Stenungsund. The municipality is often divided into 6 communities Stenungsund, Stora Hoga, Jorlanda, Spekerod, Odsmal and Svenshogen. The town is located right by the European route E6 highway and the railway Bohusbanan. The total area is of 254 square kilometers, with population of 22,742 inhabitants and population density is of 90 square kilometers.

Stenungsund was once only an idyllic bathing and vacation location on the Swedish west coast. Since the 1950s, it has become the center for the petrochemical industry. Its distinguished silhouette is four giant chimneys, belonging to a large power plant. Another landmark is the Tjorn Bridge, a bridge to the island Tjorn. In 2006, archaeological excavations in the area revealed a series of burial sites dating between 1 anno domini and 300 anno domini.

Stenungsund is definitely one of the popular tourist attractions in Europe worth paying a visit while touring the country. This place leaves a pleasing and unforgettable memory and justifies the proud cultural tradition of Europe.
